Money is collected on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It would be appreciated
if money could be sent to the office on these days
only. All money to be collected at school must come
to the student window at the office before school
begins.
The money must be in a sealed envelope
clearly marked with:
- Child's name and class
- The amount included (correct amount is preferred)
- What the money is for (excursion, sport, swimming,
etc)
A receipt will be issued to the

out to Gaven State School, unless notified otherwise.
School Banking
If your child has a
Commonwealth Dollarmite bank account, Tuesday is bank
day. Your child must bring the bankbook to the student
window where details of the transaction will be entered
and the bankbook will be returned to your child via
the class teacher.

The Education (General
Provisions) Act 2006 requires that a parent of a child
who is of compulsory school age must ensure that the
child attends school on every school day unless the
parent has a reasonable excuse. Regular and punctual
attendance is required and is essential for any level
of success at school. Notes or telephone messages
are needed to explain all absences from school. Notes
are also required if students are to be excluded from
any school activity.
Written parental permission must be sighted and endorsed
by Administration before students are allowed to leave

Bikes
Students may ride bikes
to school, however, helmets must be worn and bikes
are to be walked whilst on school grounds and across
school crossings. All riders are to observe the road
rules. It is recommended that bikes be chained and
padlocked to the bike racks near the bin compound
at the front of the school and a spare key lodged
at the office.
School Crossings
There are two supervised
Crossing Patrols. One is on Pinevale St, the other
at the top end of Universal St. These are supervised
between 8 and 9 am in the morning and 2:45 and 3:15
in the afternoon, Monday to Friday. Please use these
crossings and encourage our students to use them.
Crossing Universal St or Pinevale
St at places other than the supervised crossings places
you and your child in a potentially dangerous situation.
Parking and Pick Up Zones
Please park only in
designated areas. Parents are not permitted to enter
in the front cul de sac area of administration and
the bottom staff car park in the school grounds, next
to the Oval.
Drop off zones for parents are located in the:
- Front car park of the school
- Car park next to Pre School
- Bottom car park on Pinevale Street
Remember that the speed limit in our school zone is
40kmph. All children are required to travel by the
shortest, most practical and safest route to and from
school daily.
Visiting the School
To support our security and safety
initiatives, if you visit the school during school
hours, you are required to come to the school office
and be issued with a Visitor’s Pass or a Parent
Helper badge. Staff and students know to report anyone
in the school grounds who is not wearing a visitor’s
pass or a badge.
Workplace Health and Safety
procedures, also require that we know all personnel
on the school grounds and where they are. In the event
of an emergency such as a fire, this knowledge will
ensure we can account for everyone, and may help us
save a life.
