Sport

An ongoing program of skills and games in conjunction with the Physical Education Program is conducted for all children in the school. The emphasis in sport is on participation and opportunities in both semesters to allow the majority of upper school children to participate in inter-school sports activities. Children who need to be excluded from sports activities due to medical reasons require a written note from parents.

Smart moves
Smart Moves is a physical activity program for Queensland State Schools. It aims to increase student participation in physical activity and to improve the quality of that activity. Physical activity is vital for good health and wellbeing, enhances students’ educational outcomes, supports their personal development and promotes lifelong active lifestyles.

At Gaven State School teachers implement a 30 minute physical activity lesson each day where students participate in gross motor activities, ball skills, team sports and various other activities.
