Code
of Behaviour
It is important that everyone associated with this
School understands and appreciates the importance
of co-operative behaviour, with a common concern for
the well being of all who belong to our school community.
This school expects each child to
co-operate fully and participate in all activities
associated with the daily activities of their class;
to respect and show concern for the need of others
to pursue their tasks without disruption and interference.
This school encourages the wearing
of the school uniform. The appropriate uniform is
to be worn at all times. We expect students to be
clean and well groomed and to wear their uniform with
pride.
This school encourages students
to develop respect for themselves as individuals and
as students of this school. Offensive behaviour, stealing
or causing injury to others will not be tolerated.
Offenders will undergo appropriate disciplinary action.
This school encourages respect for
other people’s property. Students must always
seek permission to use other people’s property.
Personal items such as toys, electronic games, etc.,
are not to be brought to school.
Students may not leave the school
grounds for any purpose during the school day without
obtaining special permission from Administration.
Discipline
Parents are encouraged to read the Gaven State School
Behaviour Management Policy. Five classroom and playground
rules have been developed to ensure that a safe and
supportive environment is enjoyed by all students.
Consistent infringements of these rules will result
in students attending the RED (Reflect, Decide, Evaluate)
Room at lunchtime for playground behaviour and a Buddy
classroom for time out during class. Consistent infringements
of the Behaviour Management Policy will require consultation
with the student’s parents, teacher, Behaviour
Team member, Deputy Principal and Principal to provide
appropriate counselling and re-negotiation of a contract
for suitable behaviour.
The school's Behaviour Management
Plan is aimed at providing a safe and supportive environment
for all members of the school community. It identifies
the rights and responsibilities of those concerned
and sets out procedures to follow in managing student
behaviour.
This plan has been devised after
consultation between staff, parents and children.
It is under constant review as the needs of the school
community change.
Students are ultimately responsible
for their actions. Inappropriate behaviour earns consequences
suitable to the nature of the offence. These consequences
range in scale from simple reminders of appropriate
behaviour to exclusion from the playground or classroom.
In special circumstances individual
behaviour programs may be used. The school community
also values and acknowledges those who behave in an
appropriate manner. Recognition is given to children
who display a positive attitude to the school's procedures.

the school for a copy of the school's Behaviour Management
Plan.
